Post-Presidential Central Files, 1969-1973

This collection, the Post-Presidential Central Files, served as the main collection for non-security classified materials created or collected by President Lyndon B. Johnson and his staff after he left the White House and returned to Austin, Texas at the end of his term on January 20, 1969. Although the bulk of the collection consists of correspondence answered by the former president and his staff, it also includes inter-office memorandums and a variety of other materials. This collection includes personal correspondence with Johnson's friends and associates and former members of the Johnson administration as well as correspondence with the general public.

Post-Presidential Daily Diary

This collection consists of materials created and maintained by President Lyndon Johnson's secretaries after Johnson left office and returned to the LBJ Ranch in Texas. Johnson's secretaries maintained a daily diary log of the former President's activities. In addition to the daily diary, the secretaries maintained telephone logs and backup materials including correspondence, memoranda, agenda, itineraries, notebooks, and other documents relating to the President's appointments, appearances, travels, and other activities. The secretaries also created a card file name index for the daily diary.

Post Presidential Intelligence Briefings File, 1/20/1969-1/20/1973

This collection consists primarily of weekly intelligence briefings on worldwide events prepared by the Central Intelligence Agency and forwarded to former President Lyndon B. Johnson by the National Security Council. It also contains cables and reports from the Department of State and the Department of Defense concerning Vietnam.

This collection consists of materials maintained for Lyndon Johnson at the LBJ Ranch during the post presidential years. CBS Television Interviews, 1943-1973

Mostly transcripts and background material for a series of interviews with Lyndon B. Johnson conducted by Walter Cronkite. The interviews concern Johnson's decision not to run for president in 1968, the bombing halt, the John F. Kennedy assassination and the presidential transition, civil rights, politics, space, and Harry Truman.
