- . And-- M: Was she--I'm sorry-- J: And I think we made one more trip to Mayo that year. Lord, we were--Lyndon was dogged with so many things. But this time they told him his condition was excellent. Shivers was saying that he could not support a Stevenson
- feelings. And his feelings were opposed to Adlai Stevenson, period, and ardently supportive of [Dwight] Eisenhower as I remember. And Lyndon, who believed that, as he would express it, from the court house to White House, on balance, adding it all together
- Stevenson would not acknowledge him as a person of consequence. LC: Well, attention spans are shorter; elections are more difficult. I don't think presidential libraries have much to do with that. But I don't know, maybe you find that in the-- DC
