Bio: Buck Hood (b. May 2, 1906, Springtown, Parker County, Texas-d. September 22, 1983, Austin, Texas), newspaper editor. He was a longtime managing editor of the Austin American-Statesman newspaper in Austin, Texas. Hood also worked on Lyndon B. Johnson’s 1941 Senate campaign, for the Democratic National Committee, was appointed to President John F. Kennedy’s Committee for Traffic Safety in 1962, and helped arrange foreign visits for then President Lyndon B. Johnson. He was married to Lorraine Barnes. Hood is interred in Assumption Cemetery in Austin, Texas.
