THE RIOT ENVIRONMENT
The focal point of the riot was the South Los Angeles area,

been precipitously raised.

looting -- followed immediately ·o·n the heels of a debate at

f or hopes and fears they can gener~te ·the emotional predisposi
tion which might encourage disorder.
In this respect, a good deal depends on the mood of their
audience when they arrive on the scene.
