Today Mrs. Lyndon B. Johnson initiated the
Americans-At-Home Program of the United States
- for airport. Stopped 10
times along the route to talk to crowds.
10:00 Arrived airport and said farewells. The President was in a jubilant
mood. The press came in State Room.
10:55 Arrived Canberra.
11:20 Arrived Rex Hotel. Large crowd with many cheers
-
statement for press. Commented on being pleased that spaciousness and green areas
are being preserved - the outstanding new buildings - the plans for improvements
in the villages. Then, went to see artifacts - prehistoric rock shelter, metallurgy.
