commander, announces he will run for president as a Republican if he receives a
“clear-cut call to political duty,” but will not actively seek the nomination. The
other Republican candidates are Robert Taft, Earl Warren and Harold

for county leaders of New York.

Hughes, Carl Hill, and French Robertson, Byron Skelton, Jake Pickle and Marvin
