ranks of the army military as an obscure colonel and made into the most
popular military leader of World War II by his mentor

fourteen in January of 1943, which means that I met and had known and
had gone through World War II with all the trials and tribulations of
the war with Harry Truman and President
- of the
Preparedness Committee, because he remembered very well that during
World War II Harry Truman had been selected as Roosevelt's running mate
because of the reputation he made from the old War Preparedness Committee
that Truman was the chairman of.
I think
- and with World War II coming to an end,
you had communities that really didn't have any housing.
So while the
real estate people were adamant in their opposition to it, they didn't
have the clout to totally defeat it.
They curtailed it, but not too
much.
