Friends: I am so glad I got to come along because

So I am delighted on this first day of fall to be here in
Milwaukee and participate in the dedication of these domes.
It is one more giant forward step in the city's steac¥md
farsighted development of a park system. Other cities would do
- in Austin.
9:20 To President's Room to sign checks and autograph Christmas mats.
10:35 Leave for church - CTJ driving with President, Mr. Kellam, and Ashton
Rode by Boyhood Home, the bank, and the park.
11:00 Arrive Johnson City Christian Church. (Communion
- Milwaukee Auditorium. The elevator was stuck so walked up to
second floor to American Institute of Park Executives meeting. Was made
as honorary member. Presented medallions to sixteen outstanding citizens
-- one of whom was Conrad Wirth. Made brief remarks
- -Louis left.
10:30 Signing mail -- planning Camp David weekend.
11:00 Called Mrs. John Hill.
11:55 To car with Lynda to leave for Sheraton Park Hotel -- sent back for HHH pin -then to hotel for WNDC luncheon and performance of "Alexis, We Love You."

with Max and Marietta and Mr. Champagne -- saw LaFontaine Park (children's park).
4:30 Drove to the top of Mount Royal for a view of the city (cloudy).

Park and from there, took Balade to the Chechoslovakian Pavilion for tour.

Beverly Sheffield (Director of Recreation and Parks, Austin).

Shortly after that, I left the Department to go with a private law
firm in Washington.
I was out only a matter of a few weeks when the
National Park Service offered me a job as a lawyer in Chicago where their
headquarters were
