So that brought me back to Texas .
And after a short visit at home, I
decided to capitalize on my knowledge of Spanish and of code laws

Senator Douglas, who was then leading the liberal forces.
Joe Rauh
was there, and Joe Rauh turned it down off hand and said they
wouldn't consider it, they wouldn't do anything.
So they went on
the floor of the House with a motion to strike
