Because
apparently one of my staff, who was in charge of the airport
arrangements and lining the people up to meet the President as he
came off the plane, had naturally, since he was a good staff man,
put me
- to be not the case, and since that time I'm sure that many of
us have had second thoughts about what really was happening over there.
But that was the feeling at the time.
Everybody on that tour, includ-
ing George Romney who later said he was brainwashed
- of that meeting the issue of whether or not to cormnit
troops?
Or, perhaps I should phrase that, I realize the request would
have to come from Governor Romney.
Was the question of whether or not
Romney was going to ask for troops the point of contention
