Bio: Raymond L. Telles (b. September 15, 1915, El Paso, Texas-d. March 8, 2013, Sherman Oaks, California), served as the mayor of El Paso, Texas from 1957-1961, the first Mexican-American to serve as mayor in a major U.S. city. He was also the first Hispanic appointed as a U.S. ambassador and served on the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
