Thursday noon
Darling:
The bells have just rung and I’m going to the floor to begin another hectic day. Had com. meeting from 10 to 12 and I’ve just come by to clear up some of my desk. Rebekah just called and I suggested she join me some evening for dinner and then ride with me. She seemed elated.
My car has brought me much happiness. I’ve never enjoyed anything material quite so much (not even coffee in bed or a good shower or sunshine)
I’m living at Kenedy Warren--Rollaway bed and kitchen ($75) cool--comfortable and lonely. Keep my car in garage and no parking problems. Think

we should live there in small apartment next year. Adetha plans to come make my bed and wash my clothes. Will eat out. See Charlie South and Albert more often. Spend a lot of time with Welly & Alice and an hour or two per day talking to Tex.
Had almost an hour with the President yesterday. He was so sweet and inspiring. Am going to have lunch with him when CEM gets back to Wash--and discuss 10th dist and 1940.
Your olives [?] for Welly & Alice came. They were very pleased.

I ate with Welly at capitol at noon yesterday and Alice cooked dinner for us last night. I went home at 8 o’clock and read Life and Time until 9:30 then slept until 8:30 this am.
Had lot of sun tan over the 4th. My top down, shorts, etc. I think you would have agreed it was more outright sport then anything we’ve done. Drove skyline, played tennis & golf, ate [illegible word] had only 2 or 3 drinks and felt like a fighting cock except from sun burn. Am going to try to follow

this and hang around club more if work lets up. Think I’ll be here until late Aug or Sept.
Think the plans for the house sound good. Glad you are playing. Why didn’t you send Dr. Boetcher letter? Please!
Get Tony to rush tile table--pretty and unusual and large one ‘cause when we get back I’d like for it to be there. Am pleased with shoes.
Did you get records?
I love you more every hour you are away. Wish I could telephone you. Will you be home at what time when?
OOOOOO kisses--get more play things and get ready to have more fun. Write more often
XX [circled] spanks.
Love LBJ
[Written on left edge of paper] Am leaving to have lunch with Ray Miller and Judge Mansfield.
