Bio: Josephine Gray Mitchell Scurlock (b. October 25, 1905, Bonham, Texas - d. January 21, 1996, Fort Worth, Texas) was a pianist, educator, and advocate for music and musicians. She performed and served on numerous music related boards and committees throughout the 1960s and 70s, including the Texas Composers Commission Fund and the Van Clyburn Piano Competition. She taught music at Port Arthur High School from 1928-29. She was married to T. A. Mitchell from 1929 until his death in 1964, and Nelson Scurlock from 1985 until his death in 1993.
