Bio: Robert W. Komer was appointed a NSC staff assistant to McGeorge Bundy in 1961. In 1965 he was named Deputy Special Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs, and in April 1966 he was made Special Assistant to the President in charge of pacification in Vietnam. In 1967, he left Washington to become General Westmoreland’s Deputy for Civil Operations and Revolutionary Development Support
