Bio: John Watson Holton (b. September 9, 1917, Brownwood, Texas-d. December 27, 1997, Durham, North Carolina), lawyer, was the former administrative assistant to two speakers of the House of Representatives, Sam Rayburn and John McCormack. After his service on the Hill, he was a senior government relations counsel to the American Bankers Association. Holton attended a ceremony at the White House on September 26, 1962, during which President John F. Kennedy signed Senate Joint Resolution 133, Public Law 87-702, to strike a medal in recognition of the services of former House Speaker Rayburn.
