Bio: Cecil Edward Burney (b. October 6, 1914, Riesel, Texas-d. June 11, 1989, Corpus Christi, Texas), lawyer. He was admitted to the Texas State Bar in 1938 and commenced practice in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was a partner at Wood, Burney, Nesbitt & Ryan; director of eight banks; secretary of the Corpus Christi Broadcasting Company; and special assistant to the Attorney General for Texas in 1956. Burney was a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, State Bar of Texas member and president from 1951 to 1952, American Bar Association member and on the board of governors from 1965 to 1968, American Judicature Society member and president from 1960 to 1962, National Legal Aid Association director, Texas Historical Foundation member and president from 1970 to 1973, and Coastal Bend Community Foundation founder and president from 1981 to 1989.
