Bio: John Edward Byrne (b. 1925), press officer and government official was Press Secretary to the governor of Maine from 1958 to 1960, and an executive with the General Services Administration from 1961 to 1980. From 1980 to 1988, Byrne served as Director of the Federal Register at the National Archives and Records Administration in Washington, D.C. During the John F. Kennedy administration, Byrne was the "advance man" for President Kennedy's trip to Texas in November 1963.
